Improving Productivity and Competitiveness of the Punjab

Department of Economics, Dr Hasan Murad School of Management, University of Management Sciences (UMT), Lahore organized one day seminar on “Improving Productivity and Competitiveness of the Punjab” on 15th November, 2019 at Chief Minister House, 90-Shahreh e Quaid e Azam, Lahore. Dr. Salman Shah, advisor to Chief Minister, Punjab was the chief guest of the event. The seminar was attended by an august gathering including students of PhD MS and BS Economics of UMT. 

During the seminar, Key-note speaker, Dr. Salman Shah shed light on the integrated opportunities and issues confronting the Punjab economy in the domain of productivity and competitiveness. Speaking on the way forward, Dr Salman Shah highlighted the measures taken by the Government of Punjab in creating an enabling business environment to boost productivity and competitiveness resulting in growth potential and generate quality jobs in the province. In this regard, he talked at length on the implementation of Punjab Spatial Strategy covering all key potential sectors /areas of Punjab. During the interactive session, the students of Economics Department Ms. Hassena Mureed, Mr. Ahmed Hassan, and Ms. Amna Kausar of PhD Economics asked relevant questions from the Dr. Salman Shah. At the end, The Chairman Department of Economics thanked Dr. Salman Shah for his valuable and highly informative lecture on improving productivity and competitiveness of the Punjab.
