World Water Day was celebrated by the economics department on March 22, 2017. In world water day, Economics Club distributed badge with the slogan of “save water and save life”. Also students made charts for highlighting the importance of water. The event was arranged by Afia Mushtaq (coordinator of Economics Club), Fatima Jamail (president of economics club), Abdul Jawwad (general secretary of economics club) and Ali Yasir (event manager of economics club). All the students along with teachers celebrated the day. Chairman of Economics Department Dr.Hafeez Ur Rehman and the Dean of Islamic banking and finance Dr.Rukhsana kalim also joined the students for their encouragement and to arrange such kind of activities in future. Students of UMT also celebrated the day wholeheartedly.
World Water Day is an annual event celebrated on 22 March. The day focuses attention on the importance of universal access to clean water, sanitation and hygiene facilities in developing countries. The day also focuses on advocating for the sustainable management of freshwater resources. The main purpose of celebrating the world water day in university is to bring awareness among the people, especially among the students, they should know the importance of freshwater, and know how freshwater is scarce in the world.
