About SBE

The School of Business and Economics at the University of Management and Technology (UMT) is ranked in the top few business schools of Pakistan. The corporate world at home and abroad testifies the quality of its programs by readily absorbing the SBE graduates in various commercial activities of their organizations.
Established in 1990 as a project of ILM Trust, the University of Management and Technology, then known as the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM), has evolved into a premier institution of higher learning in the country. This success rests on the high teaching and research standards maintained by the University over the years. Recognized by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) as a “W4” category (highest rank) university, UMT is also the first in the Punjab amongst medium sized universities in the general category.
The Higher Education Commission (HEC) recognizes all degree programs offered by UMT. Spread over 160 kanals of purpose-built campus, UMT distinguishes itself with 300 full-time faculty members including 50 PhDs, 13,000 alumni and 5500 students from 63 districts of Pakistan and 18 countries across the globe. The University has state-of-the-art science, engineering and textile laboratories, computer network, well-stocked library with over 65,000 books and digital resources to facilitate learning and research. The University also offers generous financial assistance to students. Scholarships and merit based awards are being availed by a large number of students.

Business Administration programs at the School of Business and Economics (SBE) at UMT are rigorous, result oriented, globally focused and application based. Since establishment of the SBE, we have been exploring new horizons to serve the academia and business world. For the last 18 years, the institute has proudly demonstrated its flexibility with the varying scenarios of the globe. Innovation, integration and updation are the most dominant elements of its exclusive position in the country. We welcome the new horizons of global challenges with high concentration upon research through our stakeholders’ representation in international journals, conferences and seminars. The resolution for the facet disputes are well responded by research culture at our School.
SBE is positioned with distinct brand equity due to high class faculty possessing excellent academic and industrial background. The contents produced by them are equipped with groundbreaking ideas, conceptual knowledge and tools to tackle fluctuating situations of corporate sector which endorse the practical exposure of the students in a dynamic environment. Apart from traditional teaching methodology, SBE focuses upon tailored pedagogy for students according to their level and requirements of the curriculum. The customized academic programs facilitate the students in numerous sectors of manufacturing, merchandising and service industry.
Academic Accreditations
SBE stands among top 10 business schools of Asia through its best ranking and score in national and regional accreditations. It has availed South Asian Quality Systems (SAQS) and National Business Education Accreditation Council (NBEAC) accreditations, where it is worth mentioning that SBE has received accreditation from Association of Management Development in South Asia (AMDISA); an accrediting body created on the lines of Association of Accredited Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), and Association of Management Development Institutions in Pakistan (AMDIP). Moreover, SBE is an active member of the AACSB International, USA, and European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD). Being member of EFMD, SBE is now focusing upon EPAS; where, EPAS is an international program accreditation system operated by EFMD. The EPAS accreditation is expected be achieved by SBE by next two years. UMT School of Business and Economics has recently availed membership of The Alliance on Business Education and Scholarship for Tomorrow, a 21st Century Organization (ABEST21); an accrediting body in Japan.
SBE also holds the privilege of being the founder of the AMDIP. It has been remarkably developing its membership at international forums and communities. As such, SBE maintains a nationally recognized and internationally acknowledged rich and diverse portfolio of higher learning, professional training, executive development, practical research, and consulting solutions.

Transformation from Explicit to Implicit Knowledge
For SBE, it is equally important to disseminate knowledge in the classroom as well as to provide opportunities to learn beyond physical premises of the School. It includes networking with other students and business executives to share their ideas, practices and realistic approaches. Our students are provided with a platform for regular interaction with professionals from premier establishments of SBE Centers (Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation and Center for Supply Chain Research). Our linkage with corporate sector facilitates us in tailoring our curriculum which results in the delivery of updated contents.
Moreover, our dedicated team gets engaged with organizations to design programs specifically for their needs. Our customized programs shore up the worth of executives who join us to enhance their expertise.

Infrastructure
SBE facilitates its students through purpose-built resources for their exclusive use. For the last 18 years, the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) has been emphasizing upon continuous investment in staff, facilities, research and resources, with the specific objective of educating and developing global business leaders of the future. Our focus has always been on a state-of-the-art academic environment that motivates students to excel in their studies. Information Processing Center (IPC) accommodates more than 6000 participants and serves 1800-2000 participants daily. Its standards meet the international requirements of highly advanced IT equipment and services including 286 Intel® Core™ i5 Systems, 130 Intel® Core™ i3 Systems, 4 computer classrooms with 42 PCs each, 2 HP 9050 laser printers, 14 Mbps CIR Internet bandwidth, color printers, and scanners and CD/DVD writers. All the participants of the university are being provided with the latest IT facilities with highly skilled and professional support and assistance in an ideal work environment.
SBE-UMT supports its academic programs and research initiatives through an automated library, on-site collections and a variety of online services. UMT library is an indispensable source of information and is one of the excellent working libraries of Pakistan.

The SBE alumni network promotes its graduates and helps them avail opportunities in terms of industry exposure, employment, internships, workshops and seminars.
